Gone Fishing

On recent visits to the Wheeler Wildlife Refuge in my hometown, I’ve found myself embracing a new passion—photographing birds and local wildlife. Though I’ve been afraid of birds for as long as I can remember, approaching 50 seems to have awakened my inner “bird lady.” What once filled me with unease now brings me wonder, especially during the spectacular sandhill crane migration each winter. Capturing these elegant travelers, along with so many other creatures, has added a joyful new chapter to my time behind the camera lens.
